How much does it cost to replace a Hesalite crystal? If your hesalite crystal has broken or you feel that it is too scratched up to polish, you can have it replaced. Replacing a hesalite crystal is actually rather affordable, at least when compared to the cost of replacing a sapphire crystal.
If I was able to replace the hesalite crystal in my watch with a sapphire one, I would, but based on my research, I don't think that's possible. I'd be equally happy with the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial, the 42mm Planet Ocean, and the Skyfall Aqua Terra.
The hesalite 3861 Speedmaster was my sixth, and possibly last Speedmaster purchase. It has it all: the history and classic looks plus chronometer-grade precision (actually, better than chronometer-grade), hacking seconds, and industry-leading amagnetic properties. In any case, an entire replacement of hesalite costs around 230 euros at OMEGA. This includes the new hesalite plus partial service (water-resistance service, pushers, crown and gaskets). No doubt an independent watchmaker would fix it for an even cheaper price, however this is perhaps less recommendable.
The new generation Speedmaster Caliber 3861 Hesalite is inspired by the fourth generation Speedmaster, commonly known as the first Speedmaster worn on the moon, reference 105.012.Speedmaster 3573.50. By 2003, Omega had discontinued the reference 3572.50, and replaced it with the reference 3573.50, which swapped out the domed acrylic crystal of its predecessor for a box-shaped sapphire crystal – hence its nickname, .
