I have a quartz omega seamaster pro with a movement that gas seen better days. Omega have quoted me over £700 to replace or repair the movement and I just wondered if I could just swap over the cal 1538 with the eta equivalent - which I think is the 255.461. Powered by quartz 1538 calibre, which is one of these ETA based movement, ETA 255.461 in this case. No HQA, no Thermocompensation nor any other fancy features, unless we consider jumping hour hand as the feature.. The replacement electronic module is readily available from a couple of sources for around . I can also get a new replacement ETA 255.461/462 for about 0, assuming its a direct replacement, albeit with a lesser technology when compared with 1441/255.561. I bought it new with the 1438 cal. ETA 255.461 movement in 1993. I found out from an old Omega watchmaker, about why the 1438 cal. movement was supposed to have had the 1441 cal. timing module. I changed out the 1438 cal. timing module (6) screws with an "NOS" 1441 cal. timing module that I had bought new from a Swiss watchmaker.
