Here is the new 40mm Explorer ref. 224270. This is the Explorer I’ve been waiting for. perfect for my wrist (~7 inches) and as nicely proportioned as the 124270, which I owned, but could never warm up to the size.

Then I also sold a watch I liked but rarely wore. I'm considering purchasing a 36mm Rolex Explorer 1 (LNIB M serial from 2007). My wrist is 6.75" and I think it would look pretty good. I've never actually seen one 'in person', however, so would appreciate your opinion relative to other, 'similar' watches (e.g., the current 39mm Explorer 1 and the ever popular 14060M no-date Submariner).

Place the new model next to one from the late ‘90s, and the average viewer will be hard pressed to tell them apart. A closer look reveals some important differences, however. I have been thinking about purchasing an Explorer 1 as believe they have a sort of class about the model without being to stand out. I currently have a Sub Bluesy but would keep this and go for an Explorer for day to day wear. Does the forum think this would be a good solid watch to purchase??
